Greg Smith may be the only lawyer in America who has worked in the White House Counsel's Office, argued and won a case before the U.S. Supreme Court, and served as the president of major bar associations in two separate cities (including The Bar Association of the District of Columbia). In more than 20 years of practicing law, Greg has zealously represented clients in both criminal and civil litigation, often as lead counsel in federal jury trials and in oral arguments before various appellate courts. He also has defended clients facing serious criminal and corporate investigations. Greg has been involved in high-profile cases and performed in high-pressure situations, including day-to-day interactions on behalf of the Clinton White House with Congressional committees and Offices of Independent Counsel, and as a Counsel on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Now in private practice, Greg has been assigned Martindale-Hubbell's top rating (AV), and is also rated 10.0 (of 10.0) by AVVO:

Client-Centered Legal Representation:
"Too often today, the legal profession has evolved from a client-centered approach to one in which law firms reward lawyers based simply on how much revenue they generate or time they bill. A large law firm partner once told me that, 'If we have two days to file a motion, we edit it four times; if we have a week, we edit it ten times; if we have two weeks, we edit it 20 times.' No consideration was given to whether each succeeding edit added sufficient value to justify the growing legal fees."
"I categorically reject this approach. As a first-generation attorney and the son of an entrepreneur, I never forget that it's the client's case, not the lawyer's. I am an 'old school' trial lawyer who believes attorneys should be judged based on their level of service and value provided - the tangible results we achieve for our clients."
